Safety tips

Most people here are genuine. A few are not. These habits keep you safe.

Before you meet

• Chat here first. Move to WhatsApp only when you feel ready, not because someone insists.
• Video call once before meeting. A real person will not mind.
• Search their photos online if anything feels off. Stolen photos are common in scams.

Money is the red flag

• Never send money, gift cards, or "customs fees" to anyone you met online, whatever the story.
• Anyone who talks about investments, crypto or forex early on is almost always a scammer. Report them.
• If you have already sent money, call the National Scam Response Centre at 997 immediately.

Meeting up

• Meet in a public place, in daytime for the first time. A mamak or a cafe is perfect.
• Tell a friend who you are meeting, where, and when you will check in.
• Arrange your own transport there and back. Keep your drink in sight.
• If you feel uncomfortable, leave. You do not owe anyone an explanation.

If something goes wrong

Report the person in the app. For threats or crimes, contact the police at 999. For scams, call 997. We cooperate with the authorities on valid requests.
